A RARE FLUTE FROM THE LONDON WORKSHOP OF MUZIO CLEMENTI.
Everything is totally original on this superb instrument. NOT a modern copy.
Made, according to the address stamped on the hood and from the report in the "New Langwill Index", in London between 1804 and 1806.
NOT a copy. It's an original boxwood flute from the early 19th. century.
Embouchure measures 8.2 X 8.6 mm and is original: it has not been enlarged or altered in any way.
One simply brass flat & square key. We believe it to be original.
End-cap to the head is a modern copy, made in our shop in Wichita, also stained boxwood.
The flute plays very well at A = 433 - 435 pitch, with the head section pushed all the way in.
Note please the old crack to the head socket, repaired many years ago (not by us) and sealing well. It does not leak.
No ivory, no tortoise shell, no forbidden wood.
