Wm. S. Haynes “Handmade“ solid silver flute #16,668, made in Boston in 1941.

Plateau (covered fingerholes) keywork to low C, offset G, soldered tone-holes, extended key arms over the pad cups. The instrument was constructed with .014 silver tube, soldered tone-holes.

Sounding length is 598 mm (A=442), the embouchure measures 10.0 X 12.1, giving the instrument a wonderful tone color. Total weight is 417 grams. All pads and corks are not new, from our workshop in Wichita.

Original leather case is in very good condition.

“Sterling” stamped on head, body and B key. That means .925 pure silver, not the usual .900 alloy from Haynes. Still in production, retail price is now a bit over $15,000. Our flute is 100% made in America.

This is an especially fine vintage Haynes that speaks easily, has a clear and pure voice. We give it a special recommendation.

    $3985.
