Handmade Wm. S. Haynes solid silver flute number 36,540 ( 1968 ).
French keywork to low B, length is 636 mm (A = 440), the tube thickness is .014 inches and the embouchure measures 10.0 X 12.0. As some people know, Theobald Boehm, inventor of our moderns “Boehm system” flute, advised the perfect embouchure size was “10.0 X 12.0, slightly square”. Which means our flute is the perfect candidate for having the ideal tone-color….not brassy, but smooth and quite sophisticated. Total weight is 423 grams. All pads and corks are new. Sold with the original Haynes leather case and a modern case cover.
The original embouchure is of solid 14K yellow gold and is so faintly stamped.
Heavy weight and "perfect Theobald Boehm embouchure" means this lovely lady possesses and wonderful lower and beautiful singing upper register.
As one of the “Golden Age” Haynes flutes, we note that suggested price on a new instrument would approach $16,000.
Recommended for the adult amateur or a discriminating musician who appreciates the wonderful voice of a “Golden Age” Haynes.
