William. S. Haynes solid silver flute number 42,615 (1976).
Plateau keywork to low C, offset G, extruded tone-holes,
flat pad cups.
Sounding length is 601 mm (A=440), the embouchure measures 10.0 X 12.1, giving the instrument a wonderful tone-color, full and dark.
Total weight is 441 grams. All pads and corks are new, from our shop in Wichita.
The original case is in very good condition.
Our records show that we sold this flute NEW in March of 1976. The original owner was eighteen years old at the time, had planned on being a music major at Wichita State University. It seems that the decision was soon made to change to another field, resulting in this superb instrument having been virtually unplayed for the past forty-some years.
This means we have full history and provenance of this flute from Day One.
We note that the keywork is still tight, the engraving to the body and head is still sharp.
The instrument is not for every flutist, of course. But we quite like the way it performs and feels.
It's a totally comfortable and beautiful lady in whom we have no hesitation in giving our full recommendation.
$2350.
