An interesting German flute from the 1950’s.

Werner Wetzel (1910 – 1995), Berlin.

Plateau keywork to low B, rosewood body,

offset G,

Roller on D# key.

Both B-C trill and B-flat shake.

Embouchure measures 10.5 X 12.5 mm and is original.

Wood is in fine condition, no issues anywhere.

Original leather-covered case.

The flute plays well at A = 440.



Born in Markneukirchen, Wetzel established his own workshop in East Berlin, eventually found his way to Musik Hieber in Munich.


The rosewood body and the German-style embouchure give this fine flute a very full and dark tone-color, perfect for Brahms or Mahler.
